State of Emergency

While individuals like Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson... disseminate comments of negativity, bigotry and non support, as a voice for many. I say as a Voice for Umoja, that you do have an opportunity and can make a difference and your dollars will help.
Ujima and Ujamma is not for times of convenience, or for the state of mind that says "That cause doesn't need my help." or "The problem is already being addressed."
Sure there may be some doubts as to how aid is being disbursed, but you can research that and still help.

Identification with one's past (history) is an important step towards mental liberation, but the process must begin with the identification and use of your correct name. I do believe that when we pass from this plane of existence and connect with our creator, that we will have a new name and body. But as it is in the present, I believe that me must take the position in which we express our Kujichagulia and define ourselves, name ourselves and speak for ourselves, instead of being defined, named, created for and spoken for by others.

State of consciousness is, being subject to the circle of influence that surrounds an individual or group and becomes the impressions on the thoughts actions and response to the world around them. The state of being conscious, refers to a state of awakening or knowing, self awareness and intent. It is therefore important to be conscious of who we are and ultimately our potential, so that we can define the state of our consciousness and not allow only the things that have been put in front of us to define who we are. What other people say about us is history, what we say about ourselves is ourstory.






KNOW THY SELF

As defined by Dr. John Henrik Clarke, his working definition of history states:
"History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of day. It is also a compass that people use to find themselves on the map of human geography. The role of history is to tell a people what they have been, what they are and where they are. The most important role that history plays is that it has the function of telling a people where they must still go and what they still must be."


Identification with one's history and culture (Ourstory) is truly the first step towards regaining a sense of consciousness. "True teachings is not the accumulation of knowledge; it is an awakening of consciousness which goes through successive stages." - ( KMT Proverb )

It is our Ujima that is the commitment to active and informed togetherness on matters of common interest. From this we can walk in our Nia and make our collective vocations the building and development of our homes and communities and restore our people to their traditional greatness. For it is from the teachings of ourstory where one can find the greatest primary evidence of the earliest beginnings of agriculture, architecture, engineering, language, writing, philosophy, science, religion and culture.
